VarAC (Vara Chat) Training - 12/4/2022

Brian AI6US organized an informal training session on how to set up and use the new Vara Chat client, with Dennis WU6X and Jim KN6OON providing the detailed walk-through and on-the-air demonstration. The session went so well that we decided to make it available to the ham community at large, in the hopes that it will help others navigate this complex and feature-rich application.

VarAC is a Vara-based messaging client that can be used on either HF (shortwave) or VHF/UHF ham frequencies. It offers both keyboard to keyboard exchanges as well as the ability to transfer small email-like messages and files between clients. With the very resilient Vara-HF and Vara-FM modems underpinning the communication, VarAC can be used in a variety of situations where other forms of communication might be difficult or impossible.
